‘Best and brightest’ in government honored in SAPS, SAGA

The GSIS has paid homage to government officials and employees who have shown consistent and dedicated performance or achievements to improve government service and the public’s well being.

During its 70th founding anniversary celebration, the GSIS named the first set of recipients of the GSIS Seven Achievers in Public Service (SAPS).

The GSIS also named the government agencies that were the recipients of the Seven Achievers in Government Agencies (SAGA) awards during the anniversary celebration.

The government agencies were cited for making an overall positive impact with their programs and service delivery to the bureaucracy and the public in general.

The SAPS awardees are:

Pedro del Rosario (Administative Aide, Baguio City General Hospital) - facilitated the repair of defective hospital equipment, enabling the hospital to save P35 million.

Melecio Fernandez (Social Welfare Assistant, DSWD-Davao) - supervised the installation of the Orchidarium in the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents in Bago, Davao City.

Arelie Jacildo (Public Health Nurse, DepEd - La Union) - raised funds that resulted in the availment of free medical services by the needy school populace.

Reinalda Raffinan (Operation Officer, DILG) - played a huge role in sourcing P1.67 million to finance the training of staff on the Promoting Child Friendly Governance program in coordination with UNICEF.

Carmen Cubrado (Municipal Agricultural Officer, Pilar, Bohol) - spearheaded the Barangay Livestock Aide program which provided free medicines and vaccines for livestocks and crops in the area.

Gerry Baucan (Teacher, Alfonso Tabora Elementary School, Baguio City) - led a collection, disposal, and recycling of solid waste materials program which minimized pollution and maintain cleanliness in the school.

Ninie del Rosario (Education Supervisor, DepEd-Davao) - pioneered the equipping of science room and the teaching of science and mathematics through practical work approach in the Sta. Ana Elementary School in Davao.

Meanwhile, recipients of the SAGA awards include the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mahalo Elementary School (Anahawan, Southern Leyte), the National Statistics Office, the Provincial Government of Bulacan, Jose Fabella Memorial School (Welfareville Compound, Mandaluyong City), and the City Government of Davao.
